That evening was similar. I closed the gates of the pasture and stood on the edge of the huge meadow stretching to the Cats make me happy humans make my head hurt shirt. I remember that I thought then that I could spend my whole life like this; standing on the top of a mountain after a beautiful summer day and observing happy and absolutely free horses. And suddenly I saw a small animal that was sneaking near the herd. The horses didn’t react, so I thought that it must have been a dog running after me. But after a while, the animal stopped and jumped out of four paws at once. Not like a dog. Like a fox. A fox that, like me, came here in his own interest and that, like me, was nothing new for horses. He came to hunt his supper. I stopped in silence, fascinated by what I saw. The fox popped out of the high grass every now and again, every now and then snapping his teeth loudly or swallowing something. He did not quite realize that I was here. He was only 5 meters away from me when he suddenly stopped and looked in my direction. It was a completely natural thing. I have seen wild foxes more than once and I was sure that this fox will run away soon. But this fox did not escape. Through half-closed eyes, I saw him walking slowly, very carefully, a few steps toward me.

For the first time in my life, I saw a fox so close. It was a very old fox. The Cats make me happy humans make my head hurt shirt. The fur on his back had the color of dead leaves. I certainly wasn’t the first human he saw, but he seemed to be as intrigued seeing me as I was seeing him. He stopped approx a meter in front of me and sniffed in the air. I was laying on my back, in the position I used so often before to help dogs with traumas to convince myself that man is not so scary. This fox apparently saw people only in a standing position and smelling of chemicals. That time, I was spending the whole days with horses and I was washing my clothes and myself using only the sand from the river so I suspect that I largely got rid of the human smell. For this fox, I was a new species of a strange animal. Probably, it seems stupid, but I tried to make a sound like dog puppies are making. I do not know why I did it. But after a moment I felt a wet nose on my face. Through half-closed eyes, I saw the shiny silver fur. The fox sniffed me thoroughly, circled around, then quietly took up the hunt again. In the end, he caught something, because keeping something in his mouth, he disappeared between nearby trees.
